A dungeon dressed for the dead
Candles, low red light, smoke and stone. The third floor of The Dungeon Cafe, turned over to Halloween for one night.
Saturday 31 October · JP Nagar, Bengaluru
Fifty souls. One night. The dungeon keeps score.
A Halloween party on the third floor of a candle-lit dungeon: a DJ, a full buffet, and a red-and-black dress code with masks. Only fifty get in.
The game: 1-minute challenges against other guests, points on your phone, and a prize for the winner.
The venue
Third floor, Sri Sai Emporia, JP Nagar 8th Phase. Real photos from inside: the cells, the chains and the people who chose them.

What waits upstairs
Every Halloween party has music and costumes. This one has a dungeon, fifty strangers, and something on your phone that will not stop counting.

Music from the moment the doors open. The floor is yours between the games.
A full buffet for every guest, all night. The finest plates and the desserts wait behind a rope, for those who earn a seat at the High Table.
At 7:30 a countdown starts on every phone in the room. Strangers face off in one-minute games. Some rise. Some are taken away. Nobody stands still for long.
Saturday 31 October
What you will feel, not what we will tell you. The rest is found out inside.
You climb the stairs in red and black, mask on. A new name for the night waits at the desk. Nobody here knows who you were this morning.
The DJ drops the lights. Fifty phones light up at once, and something on every screen begins to fall. You feel it straight away: standing still is not an option.
Steady hands, quick fingers, a lot of shouting. You sit across from strangers for one-minute games and walk away knowing their names.
The buffet is open to all. Behind the rope, candles, cloth and the desserts, for those still holding enough at the right moment.
Somewhere in the night, a name is called. The room watches. Ten minutes later she walks back in, laughing, and the night goes on.
The music drops. The dungeon reads out five names. You will want yours to be one of them.
One guest's night
I came alone. It felt brave on Tuesday. Not so much now.
Fifty phones, fifty numbers, all falling at once.
Three games, and I know three people now.
